City life
Günter Thiele is regarded as a quiet observer and topographer of his environment. Leipzig cityscapes form the central thematic complex of his oeuvre and this catalog. In them, Thiele sketches everyday life in a very unagitated manner and places mostly shadowy figures in backdrops consisting of streets, rows of houses, gardens and parks. Günter Thiele, who was born in Leipzig in 1930, studied painting at the Berlin University of the Arts. From 1975 to 1992 he was a lecturer at the Leipzig Academy of Visual Arts. The catalog provides a comprehensive insight into the work of Günter Thiele. The introductory text is by Meinhard Michael.
