Shinji Himeno

Shinji Himeno shares an admiration for Mannerism with his artistic role models Werner Tübke and the Viennese fantasist Rudolf Hausner. In his pictorial language, he often draws on mythological, biblical and Buddhist content. Sometimes artificially depicted elements serve the overall composition, expression and mood of the picture. The figures in Himeno’s pictures often seem to float, at other times to fall. Happiness and failure, harmony and horror lie close together. This exhibition booklet is published on the occasion of his exhibition at Galerie Schwind Berlin in November 2016.
