“Adaptation – Survival – Resistance: Artists under National Socialism”

18. November 2012

After 1933, the National Socialist rulers persecuted almost all German artists of significance, expelled them, chased them into exile or drove them to suicide. The artists of this “lost generation” are the focus of this exhibition. It explores the question of how artists reacted to ideological influence, art censorship, surveillance and even bans on working and exhibiting during National Socialism. With works by Fritz Cremer and others.

Exhibition duration: November 18, 2012 – April 01, 2013
