The series of exhibitions on art in the GDR in the museums in Weimar, Erfurt and Gera also marks the conclusion of three years of research work on a pictorial atlas of art in the GDR. The project was led by the Dresden sociologist Karl-Siegbert Rehberg.
Over 20,000 works in more than 160 collections from museums, companies, special repositories and private institutions were documented for the atlas.
