On August 15, 2014, böhlau Verlag will publish a scholarly publication on Tübke’s self-portraits from 1940 to 2004 entitled “Ich spiele mich, wie ich bin”.
In this book, Annika Michalski undertakes a fundamental reassessment of his art and his life in the cultural politics of the ‘workers’ and peasants’ state’. She analyzes almost 300 self-portraits and embeds them in the current discussions about art in the GDR and Tübke’s biography.
