The central theme in Werner Tübke’s paintings is human nature, but with a tendency towards the grotesque. Consequently, the jester, the marionette and the harlequin are integral parts of his work. His work is characterized by many study trips to Italy and the Soviet Union, among other places. This catalog shows the late work of Werner Tübke, the pictures he painted after the panorama picture in Bad Frankenhausen on the early bourgeois revolution in Germany.
