Günther Blau

Pictures from Italy

The catalog booklet “Pictures from Italy” shows illustrations of 27 paintings by Günther Blau, which were inspired by his travels to Italy. As early as 1947, Günther Blau set off on foot and with crutches across the Alps to Italy for the first time in order to study the works of the great Italian Renaissance artists in the original. In his paintings, the artist depicts the beauty of Italy in a style typical of Blau, which is characterized by a colour palette of countless shades of grey and a characteristic clarity and objectivity, rather than the tourist attractions. The catalog begins with a short introductory text.
