Tübke. Drawings

Werner Tübke is considered one of the most important artists of the GDR. Tübke translated current themes into timeless allegories with his Renaissance and Mannerist-inspired style, thus lending his art significance beyond the political situation. Werner Tübke placed his art in the tradition of the Renaissance and so, for him, all art began with the “disegno”, which means both drawing and design.

In the five volumes, selected drawings by the artist are shown divided into different periods. In addition to the self-portrait, to which a separate volume is dedicated, the central themes are the landscape, the nude and the portrait. The brochure catalog Drawings 1955-1961 is introduced with an article by Günter Meißner, the catalog Drawings 1980-1989 withan article by Karl-Siegbert Rehberg. The five catalogs in 28 x 21.5 cm format cost €15 each.
