On July 3, 2022, the new altar of the Virgin Mary in the west choir of Naumburg Cathedral was consecrated. The Leipzig artist Michael Triegel thus completes the painting by Lucas Cranach the Elder, created in 1519 and partially destroyed, whose works form the side wings. With the installation of the altar, the cathedral regains its liturgical center after 500 years.<\/p>\n\n
