In this publication, published by Wallstein, Martin Ehrler examines the links between Mattheuer's landscapes and Romanticism, among other things. The book comprises 286 pages with 26 illustrations.

Werner Tübke created over 100 studies, sketches, drafts and preliminary stages as part of the commission for the complete stage set for the new production of the opera "Der Freischütz" for the Bonn Opera. The works in the collection of the Panoramamuseum Bad Frankenhausen are recorded in this 238-page catalog and classified in terms of art history by the director Dr. Gerd Lindner.

The Middle Rhine Museum in Koblenz is showing the exhibition "Dream Landscape - Nightmare Landscape" from 12.10.2024 to 9.3.2025!

The exhibition shows 14 positions of contemporary landscape painting. In their diversity, they impressively demonstrate how they add new aspects to the canon of landscape painting that has grown since the Middle Ages. Among others, works by Markus Matthias Krüger, Johannes Hüppi and Robert Schneider are on display

Leif Borges has painted the official portrait of the outgoing President of the Saxon State Parliament, Dr. Matthias Rößler. The painting was hung in the state parliament on September 30.

The Kunsthalle Talstraße in Halle (Saale) is showing the exhibition "Sehnsucht - Romantik" from 11.8. to 3.11.2024!

The exhibition brings together works of different media across genres, in which one can speak of a transhistorical continuity of romantic ideas. Among others, paintings by Sten Gutglück and Markus Matthias Krüger will be on display.

On May 25, the "Museum Tübke Atelier" was officially opened on the top floor of the former Tübke Villa in Leipzig. The permanent exhibition is dedicated to the life and work of the Leipzig artist Werner Tübke in his last place of work. A special exhibition highlights the motif of the beach in Tübke's oeuvre and can be seen until August 10.

To mark the 20th anniversary of Werner Tübke's death on May 27, 2024, numerous exhibitions will be on display. Among others, the Städtische Galerie Meiningen ada is showing graphic works by Tübke in the exhibition"Letzte Wahrnehmung"(Last Perception), while the Welttheater Wolfsschlucht in Meiningen is presenting Tübke's stage works for "Freischütz". The exhibition "Beginning and End" in Bad Frankenhausen will be showing drawings and watercolors from mid-July. The Museum Tübke Atelier is presenting an exhibition of Werner Tübke's beach paintings and the exhibition "Tübke and Italy" can be seen at the Museum of Fine Arts Leipzig until mid-June.

The FAZ reports on the painting cycle "Jahrhundertreflexion" by Robert Schneider. In it, the artist, who died in 2021, explores the culture of destruction. Our Frankfurt branch is currently showing the artist's paintings depicting the oil fields of Azerbaijan.

As part of the exhibition "Passionately figurative. The Fritz P. Mayer Collection", a panel discussion with art critic Eduard Beaucamp, Kunstmuseen director Prof. Dr. Kai Uwe Schierz and curator Thomas von Taschitzki will take place on Tuesday, March 26, 2024, at 6:30 pm at the Angermuseum Erfurt.

Based on the Fritz P. Mayer Collection, the central theme of the panel discussion is the art of the Leipzig School, its position in contemporary art and its controversial reception since reunification.

From 02.03. - 16.06.2024 the Roentgen-Museum Neuwied presents a special exhibition with around 60 selected works from the art collection of the Krüger Museum Foundation. These include works of Rhine Romanticism and Impressionism as well as their contemporary interpreters. A large number of top-class paintings and prints by Wolfgang Mattheuer also make up a significant part of the Krüger Collection.

Until June 16, 2024, the Museum der Bildenden Künste Leipzig is showing works by the Leipzig artist Werner Tübke (1929-2004) that were created in the context of his engagement with Italy in the exhibition "Tübke and Italy". The exhibition was curated by Frank Zöllner and students from Leipzig University and features paintings, prints and hand drawings.

The new, large-format painting "Tabula Smaragdina" by Michael Triegel was ceremoniously presented to the museum on permanent loan by the MdbK's Förderkreis. The painting, donated from the estate of Rosemarie and Klaus Guggenberger, was painted especially for the museum and can be viewed during the museum's opening hours in the "Bilderkosmos Leipzig".

The organization "Future for Religious Heritage" has selected the Cranach-Triegel-Retabel as one of the finalists in the "Religious Heritage Innovator of the Year 2023" competition. The competition recognizes the most important European projects dedicated to the protection and enhancement of religious sites.
