Artists' gardens

The exhibition shows paintings, watercolors and drawings by Wolfgang Mattheuer, Werner Tübke, Rolf Händler, Fritz Cremer, Willi Sitte, Elisabeth Störmer-Hemmelgarn, Hermann Reimer and Sten Gutglück that deal with the motif of the garden. In the various works, the garden is shown in its significance as an idyllic retreat away from the big city, as in Rolf Händler's work, but also as a working space, which at least for Mattheuer and Cremer offered space to work on sculptures, through to the garden as a stage, as in the drawings of Werner Tübke or the works of Hermann Reimer.
