To mark the 50th anniversary of his canonization on 22 January 2013, the Pallottine community commissioned a new portrait of its founder, Vincent Pallotti (1795-1850). One of the most important artists of the Leipzig School, Michael Triegel, took on the challenge of painting a man of whom no portrait exists from his lifetime. Using only the death mask and extended stays in Pallotti’s rooms in Rome, the painter created a work that shows the priest in the last days of his life and thus allows something of his inner self to shine through.
On October 24, 2014, the painting was ceremoniously unveiled in the presence of the artist at the Pallottine Provincialate in Friedberg.
