Since 10.12.22 and until 19.02.23, the Kunsthalle Rostock is showing the exhibition "Under blue skies" as its third station. This exhibition focuses on the landscape paintings of Wolfgang Mattheuer and Markus Matthias Krüger.

Stefan Trinks reports on the current discussions on the Naumburg Altarpiece by Michael Triegel and Lucas Cranach with the monument protection committee Icomos in the FAZ of 31.10.22 and cites further arguments in favor of the altarpiece in the article"Naumburg has the better arguments" in the FAZ of 30.11.22.

From August 6 to November 1, 2022, the Kunsthalle Jesuitenkirche Aschaffenburg is presenting a retrospective exhibition of the Leipzig painter Erich Kissing (*1934). The exhibition focuses on Kissing's long-standing relationship with his model Kerstin, which appears in numerous works in his oeuvre in a finely painted manner and in surrealistic scenes. In addition to the 30 works by Erich Kissing on display, the exhibition also includes works by artists such as Leif Borges, Michael Triegel and Günter Rössler, for whom Kerstin was also a model.

A comprehensive catalog has been published to accompany the exhibition.

From July 31 to November 6, 2022, the exhibition "Under Blue Skies" with paintings by the artists Markus Matthias Krüger and Wolfgang Mattheuer will be on display at the Angermuseum Erfurt. The exhibition juxtaposes two generations of Leipzig landscape painting and was previously shown at the Kunsthalle Jesuitenkirche in Aschaffenburg. An extensive catalog has been published to accompany the exhibition.

On July 3, 2022, the new altar of the Virgin Mary in the west choir of Naumburg Cathedral was consecrated. The Leipzig artist Michael Triegel thus completes the painting by Lucas Cranach the Elder, created in 1519 and partially destroyed, whose works form the side wings. With the installation of the altar, the cathedral regains its liturgical center after 500 years.

Maria Haase has made a film portrait of Sten Gutglück and his Flizstift pictures. These are simply born out of the moment. "Perhaps Sten Gutglück's felt-tip pen drawings seem so true to life because we all have our own experiences with such pens. But none of us has ever been able to create such works with felt-tip pens as Sten Gutglück does."

Wolfgang Mattheuer and Markus Matthias Krüger

The Kunsthalle Jesuitenkirche Aschaffenburg is showing the exhibition "Under Blue Skies" from 26.03.2022 to 10.07.2022. Over 40 works each by the Leipzig artists Wolfgang Mattheuer and Markus Matthias Krüger will be on display. In addition to private loans, exhibits from the Haus der Geschichte (Bonn), the Museum of Cultural History Magdeburg and the Moritzburg (Halle/Saale) will also be on display.

The exhibition will subsequently be shown at the Angermuseum Erfurt and the Kunshalle Rostock.

The exhibition is accompanied by a catalog of the same name. It comprises 192 pages with numerous illustrations and text contributions by Sarah Alberti, Eduard Beaucamp, Mark Fisbourne and Jenns Howoldt.

The Opelvillen Rüsselsheim Art and Cultural Foundation is showing the exhibition "Daphne without Apollo" from March 13, 2022 - July 31, 2022.

The show presents works from the Klöcker collection that depict transitions from one living being or object to another. For thirty years, the married couple Maria Lucia and Ingo Klöcker from Bad Homburg have been collecting art with a personal focus: depictions of women. In the meantime, they have been able to collect a wide variety of paintings, drawings, graphics, photographs and sculptures from the post-war period to the present day, which show surprising positions and striking transformations.

Among others, works by Ulrich Hachulla, Erich Kissing, Wolfgang Mattheuer, Werner Tübke and Arno Rink will be shown.
