From September 6, 2025 to March 1, 2026, the Drents Museum Assen will be showing the exhibition "Microcosm - The world in a cabinet of curiosities". This is the farewell exhibition of long-time Director General Harry Tupan, who will be leaving the museum due to his retirement. Harry Tupan takes the visitor into a single large work of art in which the most bizarre rarities stand alongside special contemporary works of art. Also on display is the small-format painting "Selbst als Wendekopf" by Michael Triegel from 2025 (ill.).

Patrik Scherrer writes his interpretation of the Leif Borges painting Was dancing with tears in my eyes from 2023 in Bildimpuls.

The organization "Future for Religious Heritage" has selected the Cranach-Triegel-Retabel as one of the finalists in the "Religious Heritage Innovator of the Year 2023" competition. The competition recognizes the most important European projects dedicated to the protection and enhancement of religious sites.

From October 6, 2023, the Kunstforum Ostdeutsche Galerie Regensburg will be showing the exhibition We love Picasso. It shows the influence of Pablo Picasso on young German, Polish and Czech artists. Picasso's work was particularly well received in the GDR in the 1950s. However, according to the opinion of the time, stylistics clashed with the socialist realism prescribed by the state, which is why the artists had to change their painting style as a result. The exhibition includes 7 works by Willi Sitte.

After the Tübke Foundation moved out of the attic of the Tübke Villa in December 2022, the non-profit Tübke Atelier e.V. was formed with the intention of not leaving the artist's former studio rooms unused and empty, but to use them as a living exhibition, memorial and educational space. The redesigned museum will open on May 25, 2024.

The aim of the Tübke Atelier Association is to preserve the artistic legacy of the Leipzig artist Werner Tübke at his place of work, the artist's former studio in the attic of the so-called "Tübke Villa" in Leipzig Gohlis, and to bring it closer to visitors. The association's activities initially focus on restoring and preserving the studio rooms and developing a new, contemporary exhibition and communication concept. Interested visitors will be given free public access to Werner Tübke's former workspace. Permanent and special exhibitions will make Werner Tübke's work and life accessible to the public in an appealing way.

The exhibition "Halle by the Sea", which can initially be seen from 24.06.2023 - 17.09.2023 at the Moritzburg Art Museum in Halle (Saale) and will later travel to the Ahrenshoop Art Museum, shows how artists from Halle have engaged with the Ahrenshoop artists' colony, the Baltic Sea and maritime motifs right up to the present day.

After three years of renovation, the Kunsthalle Rostock will reopen its main building on May 6, 2023 and show works from its collection. In addition to works by Willi Sitte, Wolfgang Mattheuer, Werner Tübke and Michael Triegel, the work "Girl with Candlestick" by Matthias Ludwig, which is new to the Kunsthalle Rostock collection, will also be on display.

In the current issue of Die Zeit, Michael Triegel and Sven Hoppler report on their current projects. Michael Triegel talks about the process of creating his resurrection windows in the St. Johannis Church in Plauen. Sven Hoppler talks about the central work in his current exhibition Tell's Sohn und der Lauchträger at Galerie Schwind in Berlin. The result is the texts Auferstehung (Resurrection), recorded by Evelyn Finger. The Leipzig painter Michael Triegel creates modern church windows and Deposition from the Cross. The young Swiss painter Sven Hoppler plays with biblical motifs.

On Easter Sunday, the stained glass window designed by Michael Triegel on the theme of "Resurrection" will be unveiled during an ecumenical Easter Vigil service in St. Johannis Church in Plauen. In addition to the birth of Jesus, his baptism and the crucifixion and burial, the three-part stained glass window with the motif of the resurrection will continue the theological message of St. Johannis Church.
The so-called "resurrection window" is located centrally in the choir and can be viewed during the regular opening hours of the church.

From December 17, 2022, the Paderborn Diocesan Museum will be presenting one of the most famous and most discussed works of contemporary sacred art: the Marian altarpiece from the west choir of Naumburg Cathedral by Lucas Cranach and Michael Triegel. The altar will be on display in Paderborn until June 11, 2023.

"Perhaps Sten Gutglück's felt-tip pen drawings seem so true to life because we all have our own experiences with such pens. But none of us has ever been able to create such works with felt-tip pens as Sten Gutglück does."

Wolfgang Mattheuer and Markus Matthias Krüger

The Kunsthalle Jesuitenkirche Aschaffenburg is showing the exhibition "Under Blue Skies" from 26.03.2022 to 10.07.2022. Over 40 works each by the Leipzig artists Wolfgang Mattheuer and Markus Matthias Krüger will be on display. In addition to private loans, exhibits from the Haus der Geschichte (Bonn), the Museum of Cultural History Magdeburg and the Moritzburg (Halle/Saale) will also be on display.

The exhibition will subsequently be shown at the Angermuseum Erfurt and the Kunshalle Rostock.

The exhibition is accompanied by a catalog of the same name. It comprises 192 pages with numerous illustrations and text contributions by Sarah Alberti, Eduard Beaucamp, Mark Fisbourne and Jenns Howoldt.

For many decades, Rolf Händler (1938-2021) enriched painting in the German capital with his unique signature style; his paintings can be found in all major German museums, such as the Nationalgalerie Berlin, the Museum Barberini Potsdam and the Kunstsammlungen Dresden. Rolf Händler has now died in Berlin after a serious illness. He was 83 years old.

From November 5 to December 31, 2021, the Nogueira da Silva Museum in Braga (Portugal) is exhibiting works by Ana Monteiro under the title "The Myth of Sisyphus". Ana Monteiro's paintings are executed in the finest painting style. They are full of symbols, enigmatic images whose stories remain mysterious.

From September 9, 2017 to December 3, 2017, the Bad Arolsen Museum is showing a retrospective of works by Günther Blau under the title "Stille Welt" (Silent World). With Günther Blau, everything becomes a still life.
